One reason nature feels so therapeutic may be because it has no capacity for illusion.
A tree does not pretend to be healthy when it is dying.
Winter does not try to be spring.
A pond reflects what is there.
Nature lives in reality because it cannot do otherwise.
Perhaps that is why it helps us slow down.
The longer we sit with nature, the more we remember that reality does not need our permission.
It simply is.
And there is something deeply peaceful about learning to live within what is true.
