Thanksgiving is coming soon, what does it mean and why is it overlooked by many people?
Thanksgiving is defined as the expression of gratitude, especially to the Creator, and when the Pilgrims created this holiday in 1621, they had many things to be thankful for. They were thankful to the Native Americans that were tools the Creator used to express His love and compassion for these strangers in this new land.
I won’t go into the dark side of this situation since dwelling on the past injustices only pollutes our present moment, and there are too many people who fall down this path of pain.
I can’t seem to understand why so many people overlook a day of thanksgiving? In this world of excess you would think people would have a lot to be thankful for? Maybe what we have doesn’t really make us happy?
I know that I am thankful for my family, true friends in my life, my home, all of my needs that have been met this year, and my journey of learning and awakening to what life is really about.

Another beautiful article! Thanks for sharing it. ❤

I really wish that people did not overlook the holiday as it was originally meant to be. It may have more meaning to a lot of us if it was celebrated for it’s meaning. Too many people just want to get fattened up for the day. Thank you for pointing out the true meaning!

Very true nepermhome! Now many only see Black Friday or deals for ‘stuff’ that they want to give to people who already have too much. What do the poor and homeless get? I won’t even go into Christmas because this has become the worst part of the year for me….and I know it shouldn’t be, maybe I will touch on this closer to Christmas?

I pretty much completely boycott any shopping that I don’t absolutely gave to do from Thanksgiving until past Christmas. I put time and thought into all my gifts, much of which I make. The other stuff these holidays have turned into is garbage.

I love the fact that you make your own! These types of gifts are what mean the most to me because I see it as giving a little piece of yourself to others 🙂
